About Moi

A Brief Summary

I was born in the sunny US state of California but before the age of three my parents and I moved to Canada so we could be closer to family. I grew up in Kingston, Ontario, a town that embodies normal Canadian life.

I was a hyperactive kid so my Mom signed me up for the pre-competitive group of the local swim team 'Junior Barracudas.' It was love at first swim and burned tons of energy. So at the ripe old age of 6 I became a swimmer and three years later a competitive swimmer when I joined the big team. The rest, as they say, is history. I went on to win Provincial titles, then Youth, Junior and Senior National titles. I became part of the Canadian National Team at the age of 17 and spent the remaining 8 years of my swimming career as part of that team.
After high school, I ventured south of the border to The University of Texas at Austin on a full athletic scholarship.  I am forever a proud Longhorn, Hook 'em! I majored in Advertising, minored in business, and took a few other interesting classes along the way, like Metaphysics, a geology class called Earth, Wind, and Fire, and some art history.
Post uni I continued on with my swimming career with the focus being the 2008 Olympic Games. But after a very disappointing Olympic Trials and a few more difficult months of training, for the first time in 16 years, I fell out of love with the sport.
As you may have gathered, swimming was pretty much my entire life, so as you can imagine it was sort of weird not doing it anymore. Faced with the choice of starting a career or traveling for year, I chose the travel with the knowledge that I'd see more then just the airport, pool, and hotel this time! A few friends from high school were headed to Oz for a one year working holiday so I decided to join them.
Three years later and I'm still here! I've seen a lot of this beautiful country and still have a lot more to see. I met my partner here and we are now happy to call the beach side suburbs of Adelaide home.
